Don't Append the Names Of Jahanara, Shamima Azad And Raj Begum With Pragaash Band

Mirza Sharafat Hussain Beigh

Srinagar Feb 6 : The Kashmir's first all girls rock band Pragaash who received on line threats was backed up by J&K CM Omar Abdullah. The CM along with many political leaders like Dr. Farooq Abdulah encouraged and supported the girl's band and CM promised the police investigation into the matter of threats.
The girls namely drummer Farah Deeba, bass guitarist Aneeqa Khalid and singer and guitarist Noma Nazir became instruments of battle for the politicians and Religious leaders on another side. However, calling so far  their activity "a tradition of kashmir" is not making a good sence as the soil of  Kashmir produced renowned female artists like Raj Begum ji, Jahanara Janbaaz ji, Shamima Azad ji. No doubt they were singers but despite of it they sang in the bounds of Kashmiri Tradition and their way of singing was quite resembling Kashmiriyat.
After All When yesterday members of Pragaash band quit  Dukhtaran e Milat'S Leader Asiya Andrabi appreciated the girls and told them they should not be afraid, no one will hurt them.
Moreover, Jammu and Kashmir Police has registered a case against unidentified persons who gave online threats to the members of Band. Police has registered  FIR no. 5/2013 under section 66A of IT Act and section 506 RPC. Feroz Yahya of Police cyber cell has been appointed investigation officer in the case.
